Dryer Vents
Dirty dryer vents are a real threat. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates that 15,000 clothes dryer fires occur annually. Many of the dryer related fires can be attributed to the accumulation of lint within the venting system.
Dirty vents also cause erratic operation of the dryer, causing it to overheat and pre-maturely shut down. This results in longer drying times and higher energy costs. In some cases a non-resettable thermal fuse located within the dryer will sense the over temp condition ultimately shutting down the heating circuit of the dryer.
